One of the most powerful words added to the English language was “evolution.” The word has led to fierce conflicts in classrooms and classrooms—but none of that applies to my article because I’m here today to talk about evolution in terms of music. Tape Club, the latest release from Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, is a bold, time-lapse album that moves from rough home demos to slick studio recordings. The idea is brilliant, really, as you walk through the band’s sonic evolution. Oh, and the other awesome factor at work? These songs have yet to appear on any of their commercial releases—and there are 26 of them on Tape Club.
